Annual quick snow

We had snow today. It started as rain this morning, moved to sleet about noon, and by 3 had turned back to rain before it finally tapered off. But, it was fun while it lasted! Michael and Emily are vacationing at Nana's this weekend, and as of this morning, it had not snowed there yet.

Nana graciously took them this weekend so we could have a better chance of finishing the task of moving the kids rooms around. Michael's was completed last weekend, but painting Emily's and Sophie's were a bigger project. And to make it worse, I ended up in the ER last night. I have felt crappy for a week now, the dr said the muscle aches and low temp were a virus. By Thursday I had a rash all over, and by Friday the joint pain was so bad I went back in. Still a virus, still will run it's course, use Advil to alleviate the pain. By Saturday morning I could barely walk, and was in tears. I paged the dr and told him now my ankles and knees were swelling and how bad the pain was. He was concerned and when he found out I wasn't taking enough Advil, advised me to take the maximum dose, elevate my feet all day, and call him back that evening. Ok, the 3 yr. olds are gone, Sophie is on a playdate, I have laundry to do, dressers and closets to switch out, the "stuff" to comb through and get rid of....and I have to sit on my you know what all day. As Sophie would say "not happy mom". But I did it, and by 5pm there was no relief from the pain, and the swelling was worse. I called him back and he was worried; we should go to the ER, it could be many things and he didn't feel safe waiting till Monday. Neither did I and I was tired of being in pain. So we rallied Dotty to come and spend the night with Sophie, and off we went.

To make a long story short, (if that's possible at this point, probably not) after an IV, blood tests, fluid drip, they decided that I have...a virus! Most likely a child's virus known as Fifth disease. In children this causes a rash usually on their face and low grade temp. In adults it is known as Parvovirus and causes a rash, low grade temp, muscle aches and severe joint pain. It could also be mono, the test for both of them will be back in the morning and I will know for sure. Just as the dr was telling us that "yeah, you probably got this from one of your kids", Terry remembered that Emily had Fifth's about 2 weeks ago. It was the end of that week that I started feeling crappy. Of course, I was hyped up on Percocet, so I didn't remember this fact. The good news is it is not serious, and the only reason he wants to know for sure if I have it is b/c you cannot be around pg women, like Sophie's teacher. Good to know. They gave me a steroid injection, which I could feel when we arrived home at 1am and I was raring to go. But another Percocet quelled that! I haven't had any pain meds today, just the oral steroid and I feel 100 times better.

So we are behind on the rooms, but I feel a lot better. And now I am off to take one Percocet to insure a good night's sleep!
